When I try to respond or compose an email, the keyboard has stopped working. What if it needs to be replaced? Should I get an external keyboard or just buy a new computer?

@bstar1019,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Thank you for reaching out. I understand how frustrating it can be when your keyboard isn't responding, especially when you're trying to compose an email. Here are a few things to consider:

Troubleshooting: Before deciding whether to replace the keyboard or buy a new computer, I would recommend troubleshooting the issue. Sometimes, it’s a software issue or a setting that's causing the keyboard to stop working. You can try restarting your device, checking the keyboard drivers, or using the on-screen keyboard to see if the issue is temporary.

External Keyboard: If your keyboard is malfunctioning and the rest of the computer is working fine, using an external keyboard could be a temporary solution. This will allow you to continue working while we assess the problem.

Keyboard Replacement: If you’ve tried troubleshooting and the keyboard is still not functioning, it’s possible that the keyboard itself may need to be replaced.

Buying a New Computer: If the issue is isolated to the keyboard but the rest of the computer is working fine, replacing the keyboard is likely the more cost-effective solution rather than buying a whole new computer.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
