Hi @Ram29159,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how annoying it is when a USB port suddenly stops working, especially when you're trying to connect something important. Let's fix this together with a little patience and care.

1. Restart Your Laptop

Sometimes a simple reboot resets the USB controller.

2. Try a Different USB Device

Plug in a different device (like a mouse or flash drive) to check if the port is faulty or if the device itself is the issue.

3. Check Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  3. Right-click each USB Root Hub → Uninstall device.
  4. Restart your laptop to reinstall drivers automatically.

4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Use HP’s built-in diagnostics to test the USB ports:

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  • Select Component Tests > USB Port Test.

5. Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

Outdated firmware can cause USB issues. Visit HP Support to download the latest updates for your model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
