Hi @caitlyn7865,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP laptop is indicating a specific issue with the flashing white light. Generally, a flashing white light on an HP laptop could indicate a hardware problem, power issue, or a problem with the charging system. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot this.

  • Hard Reset: Sometimes, a hard reset can resolve power-related issues. To do this, unplug the laptop from power, remove the battery (if removable), and hold down the power button for about 15 seconds. Then, plug the laptop back into power (without the battery if it's removable) and try turning it on again.
  • Check Power Adapter and Connections: Ensure that the power adapter is securely connected to both the laptop and the power outlet. Check the adapter for any signs of damage or wear.
  • Inspect Battery: If your laptop has a removable battery, check to ensure it is properly seated and not damaged. If it's a built-in battery, you may need to skip this step.
  • Try a Different Power Outlet: Sometimes, the issue could be with the power outlet. Try plugging the laptop into a different outlet to see if it makes a difference.
  • Test with Another Charger: If possible, try using another compatible charger to rule out a faulty charger issue.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a more serious hardware problem. It could involve components like the motherboard, power circuitry, or internal connectors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
