hi there , hope you all well  , im getting very frustrated with this point blank stupid website (hp.com)

can someone please explain to me why it is that when i let the "let us detect the drivers you need for this pc " tool run ,  in some instances , for eg chip set drvers , i get 16 different options ( which it obviously cannot be )  and in other instances , in fact the main reason why i ran the tool . i get zero ( blue tooth drivers) . also once ive given my best guess and selected the drivers i want from the many options provided there is no download selected drivers  I cant figure this company out .  why would  anybody have tools for  the end users to use that just dont work or at best are very buggy  . Why would they just leave unusable tools for you to use on their website  . and i include the hp assistant in that unusable tools

what is the alternative to hp.com that i can hopefully go to and get the actual drivers for my laptop from . If possible i really would prefer the alternative site to hp,com . that site has problems and i do not trust it

Hi @jenko69

Welcome to the HP support community.

. Here are some steps you can take to stop HP software from reinstalling on your PC:

1. Disable Automatic Updates

  • Windows Update Settings: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click on Advanced options. Turn off Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows.

2. Uninstall HP Software Completely

  • Control Panel: Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. Uninstall all HP-related software, including HP Smart, HP Support Assistant, and any other HP drivers.

3. Check Task Scheduler

  • Open Task Scheduler (you can find it by searching in the Start menu).
  • Look for any tasks related to HP services. Right-click and disable or delete them.

4. Edit Group Policy (for Windows Pro versions)

  • Press Windows + R, type gpedit.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update.
  • Set the policy for Remove access to use all Windows Update features to Enabled.

5. Disable HP Services

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Look for any HP-related services (e.g., HP Service, HP Support Assistant).
  • Right-click on each service and select Properties. Change the Startup type to Disabled.

6. Use Third-Party Uninstaller

  • Consider using a third-party uninstaller tool like Revo Uninstaller or IObit Uninstaller. These can help remove leftover files and registry entries that might be causing the software to reinstall.

7. Registry Cleanup (Advanced)

  • Backup Your Registry: Before making changes, back up your registry by going to File > Export in the Registry Editor.
  • Open the Registry Editor by pressing Windows + R, typing regedit, and hitting Enter.
  • Search for any HP-related entries and delete them carefully. Be cautious, as deleting the wrong entries can cause system issues.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

May i know what drivers  you want to download?

you may try this website , click here

Alternatives to download  Drivers

Manufacturer’s Chipset Websites:

  • For specific components like chipsets, you can visit the manufacturers’ websites directly, such as Intel or AMD. They often have driver download sections where you can find the latest drivers.

Windows Update:

  • Sometimes, drivers can be found through Windows Update. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Windows often provides compatible drivers for your hardware.

Hi @jenko69

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Here’s what you might try to get your Xbox controller connected again:

Update Bluetooth Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager (right-click the Start menu and select it).
  • Expand the Bluetooth section and look for your Bluetooth adapter.
  • Right-click on it and select Update driver. Choose “Search automatically for updated driver software.”

Reinstall Bluetooth Drivers:

  • In Device Manager, right-click your Bluetooth adapter and choose Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.

Bluetooth Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter to see if it can identify and fix the issue.

HP Support Assistant:

  • While you mentioned it’s not very helpful, make sure it’s fully updated. Sometimes it can help find and install the correct drivers for your HP hardware.

Windows Updates:

  • Check for any pending Windows updates that might include important driver updates. Go to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates.

Alternative Bluetooth Adapter:

  • If you’re still having trouble, consider using a USB Bluetooth adapter. They're usually inexpensive and can often provide a more stable connection.

Compatibility Mode:

  • If you’re trying to install software that’s not compatible, right-click on the installer, go to Properties, then the Compatibility tab, and try running it in compatibility mode for an earlier version of Windows.

Addtionally may i know your laptop model?

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

besides getting a new adapter , none of that worked . I take it you also dont know why its not working . i refiuse to sped a cent on this crappy laptop . its ridiculous , an  Xbox controller now all of a sudden doesnt work  after a windows reset ,  doesnt pick the controller up . i go to my old dell laptop and and turn the blue tooth on ad it works . im going to remove that hp assistant rubbish of my laptop i think its more of telemetery spyware than it is an assistant . Fortunately hp has not closed my case yet as per normal . its very annoying when that mail comes saying case closed problem solved and in reality they havent even tried . They  dont send a suggestion or nothing all you get is case closed problem resolved . why on gods green earth is the hpia not compatible with every hp device . this hp is hands down the worst laptop ive ever bought and to top it off the support proper is a waste of time . they just close a case . they do nothing , tey dont even bother to mail you if you happy with the service or that they  looking into it or anythuing like that . all we get is a big fu and case closed . its abysmal . if i was a wealthier person i would just throw this piece of crap in the bin and go get something that works properly with no stupid software on it . i truly hate this laptop . cant even use this piece of crap half the time because you cant see the keyboard . its sort like buying a car that doesnt have a steering wheel . if thats not a scan them i dont know what is .They got a big thing about beware of scamsters , as far im concernced they are the only scamsters from sales people that lie through their teeth to selling unusable laptops . i work in the industry i always get asked can i buy x or y and i inevitably tell them you can buy what ever you want , ill now say but anything but HP . But thanks for trying , i realise it was been a waste of your  but the problem persists  not because of anything you did . at least you really did try . thanks
