You are most welcome @sonny16
I am glad you can use the PC again. By the way, it's great computer - I had the chance to use for a year before (for testing purposes), thanks to HP. It's light and nice little machine.
The only things I recommend you change for better performance and better user satisfaction:
-1- disable Windows automatic updates - installing Windows Updates automatically can slow down your PC at certain times and can cause unexpected "surprises". Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Windows Updates
Change the settings in the left section so that it is set to "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them" - Here is more info >> https://www.isunshare.com/windows-8/turn-off-windows-automatic-updates-in-windows-8-8.1.html
Also, uncheck/disable the suggestion of Recommended updates - leave only the Important ones active
Doing this will force it to only check for updates but you (your sister) will choose if and when exactly to install them. I recommend you do it once every 2 months in a time convenient for you
-2- your PC comes with McAfee security products preinstalles. McAfee is not as effective as other products are and can slow down your PC at times. It's recommended that you uninstall McAfee and use another product like Windows Defender. Windows Defender is free, it is built-into the device / built-into Windows and will not slow down your computer.
2.1. Uninstall McAfee manually by going to Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and features
2.2. After successful removal, restart the device
2.3. Manually download and run the McAfee removal tool MCPR >> http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp
2.4 After successful removal from the MCPR, restart the device
2.5. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Windows Defender and ensure it is active/running
2.6. Update Windows Defender once
2.7. Configure Windows Defender automatic updates - daily or twice per day on a schedule via Windows Task Scheduler - here is how to do it >> https://www.thewindowsclub.com/update-windows-defender-automatic-windows-updates-disabled
Hope this helps !! Enjoy your HP computer !!
