Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchase this laptop yestereday. It was on sale a currys.

set up windows, user account and other software services.  During this time i noticed the fan was very loud but this was expected behavoiur as there were lots of backgroun processes running suchs one drive syncing mcfee security scans etc.

However this morning i noticed the fan is still loud and yet there are not really any cpu intensive processes running.

Even as the computer is idle the fan continues to spin at 2200 rpm and never falls below that.

This means this laptop will be returned as i cannot work on a machine that is as noisy as this.

I have toggled power saving settings.   I have turned off all startup processes to see if this makes a difference.  What i conclude is even when the cpu temp is below 40c the fan continues to spin at 2200 rpm and that is loud and distracting.

What should I do?

The technician at the Curry's know how bar said a bios update should fix the issue but this did not stop me from loosing faith in the product so I got a refund and purchased a different computer.

I'm having the same problem as the OP with the same model laptop bought from currys, only I wasn't smart enough to return it straight away! Really disappointed in the quality of this HP laptop, the sound on VLC has to be at least at 80% so I can actually hear it above the fan.

I've updated BIOS as suggested but it hasn't done anything for the noise of the fan. What else can be done about this ridiculously loud fan. I've owned this computer for about 30 days now and the fan seems to keep getting louder.
