Hi:

If your notebook has a M.2 slot, it only supports SATA SSD's, not NVMe.

Below is the link to the service manual.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04409752

Chapter 1 indicates that it has a M.2 slot that supports SATA SSD's.

However, I cannot find any procedure listed in the manual to remove and replace a M.2 SSD.

I would bet my bottom dollar that if it has a M.2 slot you would have to remove the motherboard to access it, like you have to in order to upgrade the memory.

It would be a whole lot easier to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.

A M.2 SATA SSD will perform no better than a 2.5" SATA SSD.

one more query, can i use both normal mechanical hard drive and ssd ??

Yes, I knew you have mentioned below that i can replace but still I'm curious to know.

Thanks again 🙂

You're very welcome.

You should be able to, but you will need to remove Windows from the 2.5" drive, or the notebook will always want to boot from that drive, and not the SSD.

The service manual does not indicate that dual drive configurations were offered.

There is one other thing I didn't see yesterday, and that is this...chapter 1, page 2.

Solid-state drive Only configured with system memory up to 8 GB:
● 256 GB M.2 SATA (MLC)
● 256 GB M.2 SATA (TLC)

I don't know why the 8 GB memory limit would be.

Is it just what HP offered, or is it some kind of hard restriction?

And then there is another major discrepancy...

Chapter 3 (parts list), shows no M.2 drives.

The only drives listed are mSATA drives and those are not M.2 drives like what are mentioned in Chapter 1.

I would say that this model does not have a M.2 slot, but has a mSATA slot instead, and that chapter 1 is incorrect.
