How well can microsoft essentails work as an anti virus? is it a good.

Microsoft Essentials is a really OLD product -- and from what I recall, it was discontinued some years ago.

What you want to run NOW is Windows Defender, and the version that comes preloaded with Win10 is a fairly decent AV product.

But ... as @ieee488 suggested, you really want to search through online reviews to select the AV product you need.
