Hi @Stephanie-space.

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop is stuck in an automatic repair loop and is unable to boot, it can be a frustrating issue. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you resolve it:

1. Boot into Safe Mode

Sometimes, Safe Mode can help you bypass issues caused by recent changes or drivers:

Interrupt Boot Sequence:

  • Restart the laptop. As soon as the HP logo appears, press and hold the Shift key and tap the F8 key repeatedly.
  • If you manage to get into the Advanced Boot Options menu, select Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking.

From Advanced Options:

  • If you can access the Advanced Options menu from the automatic repair screen, navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings.
  • Click Restart, then select 4 or F4 to enter Safe Mode.

2. Run Automatic Repair or Startup Repair

Since the automatic repair loop involves these tools, try running them again:

  1. Access Startup Repair:
    • Go to the Advanced options menu.Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions and let it attempt to fix any issues.

3. Use Command Prompt for Advanced Repair

If you have access to the Command Prompt, you can try several commands to repair boot issues:

Open Command Prompt:

  • From the Advanced options menu, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.

Run Repair Commands:

  • Check Disk for Errors:Repair Boot Configuration:Reset Windows Component Store:SFC Scan (System File Checker):

4. Perform System Restore

If you have restore points available, you can try restoring your system to an earlier point:

  1. Access System Restore:
    • From the Advanced options menu, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
    • Follow the prompts to choose a restore point and initiate the restore process.

5. Reset Your PC

As a last resort, you might need to perform a factory reset or reinstall Windows:

  • Go to Advanced options > Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  • You can choose to Keep my files or Remove everything. Note that choosing Remove everything will erase all your personal files.
  • If resetting doesn’t work, you may need to perform a clean installation of Windows.
  • Create a Windows installation media using another computer and a USB drive. You can download the Windows 10/11 installation media from the Microsoft website or HP Support.
  • Boot from the installation media and follow the instructions to install Windows.

6. Check for Hardware Issues

If the problem persists after trying all the software-based solutions:

  • Run HP Diagnostics: If you can access the HP diagnostics tool, run a hardware diagnostic test to check for issues with your hard drive or other components.
  • Check Hardware Connections: Ensure that all internal components (like the hard drive) are securely connected.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
