Let’s get your built-in mic working quickly! Here are a few things to check:

 

1. Verify Mic Is Enabled

  • Right-click the Speaker icon in the taskbar → Sound settings.
  • Under Input, select your built-in microphone and Set as Default.
  • Click Troubleshoot to scan for problems.

2. Check Microphone Permissions

  • Go to SettingsPrivacy & SecurityMicrophone.
  • Ensure "Allow apps to access your microphone" is enabled.
  • Check that your recording software (like Audacity or FL Studio) has permission.

3. Test in Sound Control Panel

  • Type "mmsys.cpl" in Windows Search and open it.
  • Go to Recording tab → Select microphone → Click Properties.
  • Under Levels, increase the volume and unmute if necessary.

4. Reinstall Audio Drivers

  • Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
  • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  • Right-click your audio device (Realtek, Intel, or similar) → Uninstall device → Restart.

5. Try an External Mic or USB Audio Adapter

  • If all else fails, plug in an external mic or USB audio adapter to bypass the built-in mic.
