hello I have a problem. buy a 1TB m.2 SSD storage drive to replace the hard drive that came with the factory machine
Now then, do the system recovery usb memory with the hp cloud recovery tool, that's it. The problem is that when I go to the part of installing the operating system on the laptop, the hp cloud recovery tool tells me to contact hp support. I only get that and it doesn't tell me anything. when I start the machine without the usb memory it tells me to install the operating system on the disk. Now what I did before installing the ssd disconnect the main HDD so that the installation would be faster. it means that it does not recognize the ssd.
this is the SSD I bought
Please I need help with this since my guarantee has expired and I have no one else to ask

The HP Cloud Recovery tool does not do the recovery itself. All it does is allow you, though using a 32GB USB stick, to create HP Recovery Media. You then use that media to do the actual recovery-- and what is does a factory reset, which erases everything on the current drive. So, it's not a recovery in the sense that it restores Windows but leaves your laptop intact.
I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor represent, HP

ok but right now i'm looking at hp pc hardware diagnostotic, storage test, quick check and it tells me: NO STORAGE INSTALLED.
I mean, my computer doesn't recognize the SSD drive or I don't see if something needs to be done in the Bios

Hi, @AbrususTaiper
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
Chapter 1 has the supported drive types.
NB_MSG_Marlins_1_1_931983-002 (hp.com)
According to the manual, your notebook's M.2 slot supports NVMe SSD's, so the Samsung 970 should be supported.
It is possible that something is either wrong with the NVMe drive, or the M.2 slot on the motherboard is no good (dead).
What I would try is to use the Microsoft media creation tool to create a bootable W10 installation flash drive, and see if that finds the NVMe SSD.
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
If it doesn't then I suspect it can only be a hardware issue of some kind.
There should be no BIOS settings to change.
You can check the security settings and see if there is a M.2 slot security setting and make sure that is enabled.
I know on some HP desktop PC's there is a setting to enable/disable the M.2 slot in the security settings.

I think that perhaps the slot or the m.2 port of the lpatop does not work for I doubt very much that Samsung has sent me a damaged unit. in which case what can I do? Because my warranty expired last year and this equipment I am changing twice because the disk that came from the factory always came with damage, that is why I did this to buy an SSD drive because the mechanical disk was defective from the factory.

Hello, now it works for me because the m.2 appears because I disconnect the sata cable from the HDD to put the disk and I do not get anything other than the m.2 SSD. Now to be safe remove the m.2 ssd and now that I use the bootable W10 install flash drive again I get nothing. it means that if I recognize the m.2 ssd.
but now I have another question where do I install the operating system on these partitions?
