my computer reverted back to windows 8.1 from windows 10 on its own. I've been trying to get it back for 3 days. I was trying to do a clean install (that's what I found online.) I couldn't get it done.

Do you still have the W10 USB installation flash drive you made to do the clean install?
If so, plug it into your notebook's USB port.
Click on the USB flash drive in My PC like you would normally do with any USB flash drive and double-click to run the setup application in list of files and see if you can do an in-place upgrade back to W10.
If you are asked to enter a product key, select the 'I don't have a product key' option.
