i have a HP victus "Victus by HP Laptop 16-d0xxx" with product number 48V03PA#ACJ and i bought it in late 2022
specs:-
CPU- Intel i7-11800H
GPU- Nvidia's RTX 3050TI (4GB)
RAM- 16GB DDR4 (upon buying)
Storage:- 512 GB
i have upgraded the specs to 32 GB ddr4 and 2.5 TB storage back in 2023
i have been constantly going into an issue that my laptop keeps crashing when i play games like CS2, TF2 etc, at medium to high settings ( or whatever geforce sets it to )
the keyboard and screen doesn't works and i need to hard shut down it by holding the power button, some times the BSOD shows CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT error and another screen after the hard reset which says CMOS checksum is invalid.
The temps of both CPU and GPU don't go above 80 degrees Celsius and sometimes remain below 70 only.
the event viewer shows the the level critical with the source as kernel power and event id as 41 with task category as 63.
the minidump is always empty and while playing games the cpu and gpu never reaches 100% utilization
someone told me to see in device manager under system devices to see if Intel's DPTF (Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework) is there and it is not there.
can someone please help me here

@ADGSR, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Victus 16 Gaming Crashes!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure that both your GPU and CPU drivers are up to date. Nvidia frequently releases updates that improve performance and stability.
- Update your drivers via the Nvidia GeForce Experience for the GPU and Intel Driver & Support Assistant for the CPU.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Ensure your operating system is up to date and has the latest patches installed. Sometimes OS updates include crucial fixes for stability issues.
Verify Game Settings:
- Lower your game settings to see if the crashes persist. High settings can sometimes cause overheating or excessive load on the GPU.
Monitor Temperatures:
- Use software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to check if your CPU or GPU is overheating. High temperatures can cause crashes.
- Ensure your laptop is well-ventilated and not placed on a surface that blocks cooling.
Perform System Diagnostics:
- Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI to check for any hardware issues.
- Run a memory diagnostic test to ensure your RAM is functioning correctly.
Check Power Settings:
- Ensure that your laptop is plugged in and set to high performance mode in the power settings.
- Sometimes low power modes can restrict CPU and GPU performance.
Check Storage Space:
- Ensure you have sufficient free space on your storage drives; low free space can sometimes cause performance issues.
Disable Background Applications:
- Close unnecessary applications running in the background that might be consuming system resources.
Reinstall Games:
- Try reinstalling the games to ensure there are no corrupt files causing the crashes.
Update BIOS:
- Occasionally, BIOS updates are released to fix system stability issues. Check the HP support site for any available BIOS updates for your model.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
