@muzayyanana, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Overheating and BIOS Issues on HP Laptops!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Overheating and BIOS issues can cause serious problems for your laptop. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve these issues:
Steps to Resolve Overheating Issues:
Clean the Vents and Fans:
- Dust and debris can block the vents and fans, causing overheating. Use compressed air to blow out the dust from the vents.
Check the Fan:
- Ensure the cooling fan is working properly. You should hear the fan running when the laptop is on. If not, the fan might need to be replaced.
Use a Cooling Pad:
- Using an external cooling pad can help reduce the temperature of your laptop.
Environment:
- Ensure your laptop is used in a cool environment and not in direct sunlight or on soft surfaces like beds or sofas, as these can block the airflow.
Thermal Paste:
- Over time, the thermal paste between the CPU/GPU and the heatsink can dry out. Reapplying thermal paste can improve heat dissipation.
Steps to Update/Reset the BIOS:
Update BIOS:
- Download the latest BIOS version from the HP Support website for your specific laptop model.
- Follow the instructions provided to update the BIOS.
Reset BIOS:
- To reset the BIOS, first turn off your laptop and disconnect the external devices.
- Turn on the laptop and immediately press the F10 key repeatedly until the BIOS Setup Utility opens.
- Use the arrow keys to navigate to the Exit menu, and then select Load Setup Defaults.
- Confirm the defaults, save your changes, and exit the BIOS Setup Utility.
CMOS Battery:
- If the BIOS settings are not being saved, the CMOS battery might be faulty and may need to be replaced.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
