Hi @ramo5050

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That error code—DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION (0xE6)—is a classic BSOD tied to faulty or misbehaving drivers, especially those using Direct Memory Access (DMA) improperly.

It’s often triggered during stress testing or when certain drivers (like wireless or storage controllers) are repeatedly enabled/disabled.

Here’s how to troubleshoot it step-by-step:

1. Disable Driver Verifier

If you enabled Driver Verifier manually or it’s running in the background:

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator
  • Type: verifier /reset → press Enter
  • Reboot your system

2. Update or Roll Back Drivers

  • Open Device Manager
  • Look for any recently updated drivers (especially wireless, storage, or chipset)
  • Right-click → Properties → Driver tab
    • If recently updated, click Roll Back Driver
    • If outdated, click Update Driver

3. Check for DMA Remapping Conflicts

Some systems with DMA Protection enabled in BIOS can conflict with certain drivers:

  • Reboot and enter BIOS (usually by pressing F10 or Esc during startup)
  • Navigate to Advanced > System Options
  • Disable DMA Protection (if available)

⚠️ Only do this if you're comfortable with BIOS settings. Let me know if you want help navigating your specific BIOS layout.

4. Run System File Checker

To rule out corrupted system files:

sfc /scannow

Run this in Command Prompt (Admin), then reboot.

5. Update Windows & BIOS

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update
  • Install all pending updates
  • Check HP’s support site for BIOS updates for your RTG3C0BH model

Optional: Run HP Diagnostics

Restart your laptop and press Esc, then F2 to launch HP’s built-in diagnostics. Run a full test to check for hardware faults.

Let me know if this helps!
