I work on behalf of HP,

Since you mentioned that the laptop is not recognizing any mobile phones please follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

Check to see that your phone shows up in Device Manager. To do this:
For Windows 8 users: From the Start screen, type "Device Manager," tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Device Manager.
A window will appear with the name of your computer and a list of files. (If you don't see the files, tap or click the name of your computer.) The name of your Phone should be listed under Portable Devices.

If your computer's Device Manager does not detect that your phone is connected, more than likely it's because there's no physical connection between the USB port on the phone and the USB port on the computer. Possible causes include:

You are not using a good USB data sync cable, like the one that came with your phone. Some phones are also supplied with optional “charging” cables that cannot be used to establish a data connection with your PC. Try another cable, if possible.

There is dust or debris in the USB port on the phone. Try using a can of compressed air to clear the USB port on the phone to ensure a good connection.

The USB port you are using on the computer is bad. Try connecting to a different USB port. (You might also try connecting your phone to a different computer. This will validate whether the problem is with the USB connection on your computer.

Thanks for helping, but still problem has not solved. I have checked using various cables but it's not working. No mobiles were connecting to my HP laptop. My mobile is connecting to other laptops but not mine...
Is there any chance of software problem

Hey there!

Thanks for the reply, I understand you have issues. Please try the steps mentioned below.

Unplug Adapter from your PC and Restart your PC.

Now connect your USB device to the USB ports.

After the USB device connected to your PC, then plug in the adapter to PC.

If the above method is not working.

Open RUN (Windows Logo + R) and type “dev mgmt.msc” and click OK.

Now expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Attach your device which is not recognized.

You will see an Unknown USB device (Port reset failed) with a yellow sign in Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Now right-click on it and click Uninstall to remove them.

Now restart you’re PC, the drivers should automatically reinstall after restarting the PC.

Right-click on the battery icon and click Power Options.

Now click Change advanced power settings.

Find and expand USB settings.

Expand USB selective suspend settings and Disable both On battery and Plugged in settings.

Let me know how it goes.

Have a great day!
