Thank you CherylIG. However when I hit F11 it does try to starts windows but then an HP Recovery Manager interrups and brings me a HP Recovery Mnager pop up window, but with the offer of restoring my hard drive back to its original factory state. Is this means that I have lost my data?

Do not do the System Recovery unless you have an external source to backup files-USB hard drive or large capacity flash drive.

From reading your first post-you evidently are not getting the error in the title of this thread- "to visit www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup".

It appears you have been infected with malware which has locked you out-or you have enabled HP drive Encryption?. You really should have started a new Post with details of your problem rather than jumping into a 2 yr old thread with completely different issues than you are having.

I should explain myself what I have done. By mistake I unaware encrypted the HD. I have the password which I put in on the first page the computer pops up when I turn it on. But when I hit the Enter key it takes me to a blank (black) page. I have tried with the ESC key when I reboot the computer, and this time it takes me to several F1-F11 options. I tried F11 (HP Recovery) which starts like it is going to start windows but then it takes again to a total blue hp page. Please advice what I should do. Any phone I can call. Iam in a business trip in Italy and needs urgently to resilve this problem.
