@novamaster, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding an issue with your PC!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Ensure Proper Shutdown:

  • Make sure your computer fully shuts down when you click shutdown rather than just entering sleep mode. Use the shutdown option from the start menu and wait for the system to power down completely.

Check Power Options:

  • Review your power settings to ensure that your computer is set to "Shut Down" when closing the lid or pressing the power button. You can find these settings in the Control Panel under "Power Options."

Update Your PC:

  • Run Windows Update to ensure you have the latest updates, as system bugs and compatibility issues can sometimes cause the system to fail to shut down properly.
  • Windows Update:
    • Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
  • HP Support Assistant:
    • Use HP Support Assistant to check for driver updates that might resolve power-related issues.
    • Launch HP Support Assistant: Start Menu > All Apps > HP Help and Support > HP Support Assistant.

Scan for Malware:

  • Perform a full antivirus scan to rule out malware or viruses that could be affecting your system. Use software you have installed or consider free options like Windows Defender.

Check for Scheduled Tasks:

  • Look for any scheduled tasks that might cause your PC to remain active or wake up after you shut it down.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
