Hello again,

A HDD test should not take more than 4-5 minutes, it more than likely needs replacing or the cable is faulty.

Since this laptop is from 2008-2009, HP no longer keeps components in stock for it but you should be able to take it to a local repair shop so that they can replace the HDD and re-install the OS for you.

Alternatively, you could search online for a 2.5 inch HDD and create a Windows 10 bootable USB stick from Microsoft's website.

Good luck

Hello,

Recovery disks for Vista are no longer sold by HP.

Are you sure it's asking for a boot disk and not a boot device? If it's asking for a boot device, your hard drive might need replacing.

Since this laptop was manufactured quite a few years ago, it might not have the HP UEFI but it's worth a try.

To enter the UEFI, tap the 'F2' button immediately after powering up and look for Hard Drive test. If the test fails, you might want to take it to a local repair shop to get it replaced.

Cheers

AlexandruN, Ok my bad, you are right it was "No bootable device-- insert boot disk and press any key" this is the showing when i try to run the hard drive test. and when i try to do your advice to press F2 once i started it then i select F4 for Hard Disk Test, its just showing "Quick test is executing,  00% complete" i wait for 30 mins, coz i though its running the test but it didnt change any. if the Hard drive is bad, where i can order or buy it?.. thanks alot for the reply.
