Hi @Oliwiacizia,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your laptop may be experiencing hardware issues, particularly with the screen and possibly the cooling fans. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the exterior of your laptop for any physical damage, such as cracks or dents. Damage to the screen or other components could be causing the issue.
  • Update Drivers and Software: Ensure that your laptop's drivers and operating system are up to date. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues that lead to strange behavior.
  • Boot into Safe Mode: Try booting your laptop into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. Safe Mode loads only essential drivers and may help isolate the problem. To boot into Safe Mode, restart your laptop and repeatedly press the F8 key until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu. From there, select Safe Mode.
  • Run Hardware Diagnostics: Most laptops come with built-in diagnostics tools that can help identify hardware issues. Check your laptop's user manual or HP website for instructions on how to run diagnostics.
  • Clean the Cooling Fans: If you suspect that the strange sounds are coming from the cooling fans, they may be dirty or clogged with dust, which can cause them to malfunction. Use compressed air to carefully clean the fans and vents.
  • Check for Overheating: Overheating can cause various issues with laptops, including screen flickering and strange noises. Make sure your laptop is not overheating by monitoring its temperature using software like HWMonitor or SpeedFan.
  • Reset BIOS Settings: Resetting your laptop's BIOS settings to default may help resolve hardware-related issues. Consult your laptop's manual or HP website for instructions on how to reset the BIOS.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
