Hello Daibansho,

Thank you for posting your concern,

Troubleshooting Missing Touchpad in Device Manager on HP 255 G7 Notebook

If your touchpad is not appearing in the Device Manager on your HP 255 G7 Notebook, you might want to try the following steps:

  1. Update Windows: Ensure that your system is running the latest updates. Sometimes, installing all Windows updates can resolve driver recognition issues.

  2. Enable Touchpad in BIOS:

    • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings by pressing the appropriate key during boot (often F10, Esc, or Del).
    • Look for settings related to the touchpad or pointing devices and ensure it is enabled.
  3. Install Touchpad Driver:

    • Visit the HP Support website and enter your laptop's model to find the latest touchpad driver.
    • Download and install the driver specific for your touchpad model.
  4. Run Hardware Troubleshooter:

    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
    • Run the "Hardware and Devices" troubleshooter to scan for issues.
  5. Check Device Manager:

    • After performing these steps, go back to the Device Manager and check under "Mice and other pointing devices" to see if the touchpad reappears.
  6. Reset BIOS to Default: Sometimes resetting the BIOS settings to default can resolve hardware recognition issues.

  7. Use External Mouse for Additional Access: While troubleshooting, using an external USB mouse can help you navigate more easily.

  8. Contact Support: If you continue to face issues, consider reaching out to HP Support for additional assistance.

These steps should help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue of your touchpad not appearing in the Device Manager.
