Hi @gelli51,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your HP Notebook after a BIOS update. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Power cycle the notebook: Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery, and hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds. Then, reconnect the power adapter (without the battery) and turn on the notebook to see if it boots up.
  • Reset the BIOS: Some HP Notebooks have a BIOS recovery feature that allows you to restore the BIOS to its original state. To do this, turn off the notebook, press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time, and then press the power button. Keep holding the Windows and B keys until the HP BIOS update screen displays, then follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Check the boot device order: Sometimes the BIOS update can reset the boot device order, causing the notebook to try to boot from the wrong device. Go into the BIOS settings and make sure that the hard drive is listed as the first boot device.
  • Try booting from a USB drive: If the notebook still won't boot, try creating a bootable USB drive with an operating system like Windows or Linux and see if you can boot from that. If the notebook can boot from the USB drive, it may indicate that the problem is with the operating system on the hard drive.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
