Hi @jwlee2006,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here are steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the charging issue with your Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop.
Inspect the Charger and Port
- Ensure the charger and cable are securely connected to both the wall outlet and the laptop.
- Check the charging port for any dirt, dust, or debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean it carefully.
- Test the charger on another compatible HP laptop (if available) to confirm it works.
- Try charging your laptop from a different wall outlet.
Reset the Laptop
- Disconnect the charger and any connected peripherals.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge residual power.
- Connect the charger and try turning the laptop on.
Check for BIOS Issues
- If the laptop turns on briefly, enter the BIOS by repeatedly pressing the F10 key during startup.
- Verify if the charger is being detected in the BIOS. It may show as "Plugged in" or "Adapter not recognized."
Test for Power Delivery
- If you suspect the battery is the issue, remove it (if removable) and attempt to power the laptop using only the charger.
- For non-removable batteries, check if the battery LED indicator shows any light (solid, blinking, etc.).
Diagnose Hardware Problems
Since you cleaned the fans and opened the laptop:
- Double-check all internal connections, especially the power connector from the motherboard to the charging port.
- Ensure no pins or connectors are bent, loose, or damaged.
- Confirm that the battery is properly seated and connected.
Perform a Hard Reset with AC Adapter
- Disconnect the charger and remove the battery (if possible).
- Hold the power button for 1-2 minutes.
- Reinsert the battery and connect the charger.
- Try turning on the laptop.

Look for Power LED Patterns
- Many HP laptops have diagnostic LEDs (near the charging port or power button). Check the HP Diagnostic Code for any blinking patterns, which could indicate a hardware issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
