Hi @AnandSingh9

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that your HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-aw2000 shuts down immediately as soon as the charger is disconnected, even though the battery health check reports that the battery is in good condition. To isolate whether this is caused by a battery calibration issue, power management problem, or an internal hardware fault, I would request you to perform the troubleshooting steps below and let us know the outcome.

Perform a Hard Reset

This process drains residual electrical charge and resets the hardware.

  • Shut down the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter (charger).
  • Remove all external devices:
  • USB drives
  • External monitor
  • Printer
  • Memory cards
  • Docking station
  • Press and hold the Power button for 25 seconds.
  • Release the button.
  • Reconnect only the charger.
  • Turn on the laptop.
  • Allow the device to charge uninterrupted for 1 to 2 hours.
  • Disconnect the charger and check whether the notebook remains powered on.

Check Battery Status in Windows

  • Connect the charger.
  • Right-click the Start Menu.
  • Select Device Manager.
  • Expand Batteries.
  • Verify that the following entries appear:
  • Microsoft AC Adapter
  • Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
  • If either item shows a warning icon:
  • Right-click it.
  • Select Uninstall device.
  • Restart the computer.

After restarting, check if the laptop can operate without the charger.

Run HP UEFI Battery Diagnostics   Click Here

  • Turn off the notebook.
  • Press the Power button and immediately tap the Esc key repeatedly.
  • Select F2 - System Diagnostics.
  • Select Component Tests.
  • Select Power.
  • Select Battery Test.
  • Allow the test to complete

Please share the test results.

Check Battery Report

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  • Run the command: powercfg /batteryreport
  • Show more lines
  • Open the generated battery report.
  • Check: Design Capacity
  • Full Charge Capacity
  • Recent Usage section
  • If the Full Charge Capacity is significantly lower than the Design Capacity, the battery may be deteriorating despite passing diagnostics.

Inspect for Battery Swelling

Carefully inspect the laptop for:

  • Keyboard bulging
  • Raised touchpad
  • Bottom cover separating
  • Uneven gaps in the chassis

Update BIOS

  • Visit HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
  • Enter your laptop serial number or model.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS version.
  • Restart the computer after the update.

An outdated BIOS can occasionally cause battery communication issues.

Hi @AnandSingh9

Thanks for your response and Thank you for the update.

I understand that your HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-aw2000 shuts down immediately when the charger is disconnected, even though the HP Battery Check reports that the battery is in good condition.

Since the battery has already passed diagnostics, performing the same battery tests again is unlikely to resolve the issue. The next step is to determine whether the battery can actually power the notebook.

Kindly perform these quick checks:

  1. Charge the notebook to 100%.
  2. Leave the charger connected and turn on the notebook.
  3. View the battery percentage in Windows.
  4. Disconnect the charger.

Kindly confirm:

  • Does the notebook shut down instantly?
  • Does the battery percentage remain visible before it powers off?
  • Is the battery icon showing "Plugged in, charging" normally while the adapter is connected?
  • Was the battery replaced before ? ( if so kindly confirm was it replaced by HP or by third party )

If the notebook powers off immediately after unplugging the charger:

This generally indicates a battery hardware issue or motherboard power circuit failure, even if the battery health test passes.

If the issue persists after confirming the above, I recommend having the notebook inspected by an authorized HP Service Center, as the battery connection and power circuitry may require hardware diagnostics that cannot be completed remotely.

Kindly let us know the answers to the above steps .
