So I ran into a problem a little while ago where there was memory failure and a blinking code. it was 3 short 2 long or something of that, I thought it was ram and replaced the ram 3 different times different brands similar specs and higher to find out it was my ssd. well my ssd was toast and I lost everything on my ssd and I'm trying to get windows back onto my computer with my new ssd. I got windows install downloaded on to a usb that was flashed specifically for it. found windows install on windows website. I let this thing sit for 16-24 hours and it was just showing hp logo nothing else. I did system checks reset defaults restarted the computer over and over and I'm stumped and need some help XD. please if you got any info let me know.

Hi @ConnorsFailures,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having trouble getting Windows installed on your HP Notebook 14 after replacing the SSD. Let's go through the steps to try and resolve this issue.
Check BIOS Settings:
- Ensure that your BIOS settings are correctly configured. Make sure that the boot order is set to prioritize the USB drive where you have the Windows installation media. You can access the BIOS settings by pressing a specific key during boot, often F2 or Del.
Recreate Bootable USB Drive:
- It's possible that the installation media on your USB drive got corrupted. Try recreating the bootable USB drive using the Windows Media Creation Tool or Rufus to ensure it's prepared correctly.
Secure Boot and Legacy/UEFI Mode:
- Check whether your system is set to boot in Legacy or UEFI mode. It's recommended to use UEFI if your system supports it. Also, disable Secure Boot temporarily during the installation process.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- Since you've experienced hardware problems before, it's a good idea to ensure there are no other hardware issues. You can run hardware diagnostics from the BIOS to check for any problems.
Partition the New SSD:
- Ensure that the new SSD is correctly partitioned. You can do this during the Windows installation process. Delete any existing partitions on the SSD and create a new one for Windows.
Try a Different USB Port:
- Sometimes, using a different USB port can help if the one you initially used has issues.
Remove Unnecessary Peripherals:
- Disconnect any unnecessary external devices like printers, external hard drives, or additional monitors during the installation process.
Try a Different USB Drive:
- If possible, try using a different USB drive to create the installation media. There could be issues with the USB drive itself.
Update BIOS:
- Ensure that your laptop's BIOS is up-to-date. Visit HP's official website, locate your laptop's model, and download the latest BIOS update if available.
Perform a Clean Windows Installation:
- During the Windows installation process, when you reach the screen where you select a partition, delete any existing partitions on the new SSD and then select the unallocated space to install Windows. This will ensure a clean installation.
Check for Compatibility:
- Ensure that the new SSD is compatible with your laptop model. Sometimes, there could be compatibility issues.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue and successfully install Windows on your new SSD.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
