@BaldwinJack, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Omni Book Laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To get Excel 365 working instead of Excel 2021, here’s what I recommend:

Uninstall Office 2021
Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, find Office 2021, and uninstall it.

Install Microsoft 365
Download it from the official Microsoft site and install. Please make sure your Microsoft 365 subscription is active.

Restart your system after installation, then open Excel — you should now be using Excel 365.

This should resolve the conflict and help you get the most out of your new device. If you still face any issues, feel free to reply — we're here to help!

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thanks for your reply and consideration. Uninstalling 2021 and installing 365 does not work. What happens is installing 365 also installs 2021. HP support tells me the two are currently one and the same will diverge as 365 will be enhanced and updated whereas 2021 will not be enhanced and updated. I haven't checked that MS agrees this is true but seems logical as 2021 is one time purchase and 365 is annual subscription. My other concern is I purchased Copilot pro at a monthly fee but see no evidence it is installed rather than Copilot. Again, I am told this is the way it works, and I have Pro.  Time will tell.

@BaldwinJack, Thanks so much for sharing your experience — I truly understand how frustrating it is when expectations don’t quite match up, especially after investing time and money into new hardware and software.

You're right in noticing the overlap — Microsoft 365 apps can sometimes appear as Office 2021, especially when both versions are linked under the same account or license. It can definitely be confusing. As for Copilot Pro, it's currently a feature enhancement tied to your Microsoft account, and not a separate app you'd see installed — but I totally get why that feels unclear.

We really appreciate your patience, and I’d love to help you get to a clearer solution.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
