Microsoft Windows 11

Is  it possible that my laptop was previously owner who returned and the retailer  resold it as "open box"?  I'm having some issues with blank screen upon opening computer, only the mouse works but no icons anywhere Ctrl/alt/del brings up a menu.  When I chose sign on with different user I was brough to the correct locked screen and then everything worked until it didn't again several days later.

In the same vein, in the middle of a word document the computer stopped working and a black screen appeared with a white hand.  Wouldn't do anything mouse worked is all but no C/A/D.  I had to do a cold boot.

To answer your "previous owner" question, that depends on WHERE you bought this.  If you bought it from HP, the answer is no because HP does not sell used equipment. But if you bought it from a store or online retailer, don't know the answer because HP has no control over what those resellers do.

If this is a new PC, still under warranty, I would see about returning it for a refund or exchange because you should not be having these kinds of issues with a new PC. And for those, you would have to contact the seller directly.
