i am trying to reinstall windows 10 on my HP15-dy2795wm. Whenever i go to type my product id in on this website, it tells me its not right. I know it's right because I took a pic of the number with my phone and have entered that number in 5 times. I just want to talk to customer support but I cant do that because of this whole product number thing. What do i need to do to get a little help?

Hi:

Below is the link to the product specs for your notebook.

HP Laptop 15-dy2795wm Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

The product number is 6M0Z7UA#ABA.

Your notebook originally came with W11 Home from HP, not W10.

If you use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive, you will end up with W11, not W10.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.

HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support

If you want to install W10, you will need to clean install it by making bootable USB installation media with the media creation tool from the link below.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

A clean install of W10/W11 will require you to add storage controller drivers at the point where Windows can't find the hard drive.

I have zipped those drivers up and attached them below.

Unzip the files to their folder.  Copy them to a USB flash drive.

Plug the flash drive into your notebook's USB port and when you get to the screen where Windows can't find any drives, click on the Load driver option, browse to the USB flash drive with the storage controller drivers, if you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

Click Next, and hopefully Windows will find the drive and install.
