Hello @Ingersol
Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum.
You have 2 options:
1. Uninstall and attempt to reinstall the application - HP Support Assistant (HPSA)
or
2. Just uninstall the app and forget about it
HPSA is an application which delivers some messages from HP to you, provides updates to existing drivers and offers users with some HP info. It may be useful in some cases but is not mandatory app to have or keep on your computer. It's up to you if you want to continue using it. In Windows 10 you can receive updates via other means (like from Windows Update) >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139
With regards to (1)
Click on Start
Type Control Panel
Open Control Panel and navigate to Programs and features
Find "HP Support Assistant" and uninstall it
wait and Find "HP Support Framework" and uninstall it if present
Restart the computer
Download the latest version of the app from here (red/orange button) >> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html
Install the app and hopefully it will work
With regards to option (2)
Click on Start
Type Control Panel
Open Control Panel and navigate to Programs and features
Find "HP Support Assistant" and uninstall it
wait and Find "HP Support Framework" and uninstall it if present
Restart the computer and enjoy life
Let me know if this works for you.
