I honastly thought this laptop couldn't get any worse. I downloaded the latest version of hp support assistant after resinstalling windows along with all other hp stuff and when i try to get the hp updates it comes up with an

error saying "HPSF.exe has stopped working" from there it keeps coming up with that error everytime support assistant starts.

Hi,

I thought everything was fixed for a minute there as the message didn't come as soon

as the update finnished like it usually did but it came again later.

Still the same problem.

HP Recommended

Please try uninstalling and reinstalling both HP Support Assistant and HP Software Framework both and then reinstall the updated ones as suggested earlier.

Here is a solution provided by DavidPK to other customers who had this problem:

First of all, uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant by using the Microsoft 'Fixit' on the following link - this is particularly useful in correcting issues that may prevent reinstallation on machines running a 64bit OS.

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

Download the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the page on the link below - the download links are towards the bottom of the page - and save the installer to your Downloads folder.

http://h18021.www1.hp.com/helpandsupport/hp-support-assistant.html

Next, if you don't have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip.  Please note, if you have a 64bit installation, download and install the .msi 64-bit x64 installer on the link below.

http://www.7-zip.org/

Next, right click the HPSA installer you download earlier, select 7-Zip, select extract files and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted folder, right click on UninstallHPSA and select 'Run as Administrator' - you may well see no progress of this attempted uninstallation, so leave the notebook to idle for a good 10 minutes before restarting it.

When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder and delete the ‘extracted HPSA folder’ so you are just left with the original installer you downloaded.  Right click the installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation and when this has completed, restart the notebook

Hei Vidya!

I'm going to go crazy with the HP Support Assistant. Before, it was all right, when came some kind of HPSA update.

The current version is : 7.4.45.4  It does not check for updates.

Which program should I start at first?

  • HP Support Assistant,
  • HP Software Framework,
  • 7-Zip?

I would be very grateful if you could explain it again to 59 years old woman from Finland, my computer is virus-free and now this has been a problem for 3 (?) months.

In addition, Microsoft's "Fixit" does not work.

Also ERROR: The XML page cannot be displayed. Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

I followed the instructions you gave however even after multiple reinstations the rror message continuously pops back up. Could there be an error in the software?
