Hello,

I'm in need of help I started the recovery system from a USB and follow of all of the steps given until i get to the screen Factory Image recovery preparations ands asks me if I received a supplemental recovery usb driver from hp support? so I said no by pressing the botton skip. and it does a lot of on and off but then when it seems to have finished the process it gives me screen # 1 to start the factory reset again.

Can someone give some input on how

i can fix this problem.

Thank you very much!

Hello @baja2010

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

Your PC originally comes with Windows 8.1 from what I see on the HP site, but you wrote above you use Windows 10.

What is the OS version you are trying to restore now and which Windows you prefer to use.

Let me know and I will post specific instructions how to get back to business. Thank you for your cooperation !

Hi there,

I was able to succesfully get it back to factory settings.

and to response to what you asked: I think i dont have a prefence for W. 8.1 or 10. as long as my computer works.

The reason I had initiated the factory reset was because my computer is giving me a battery plugged in but not charging.

my battery wasn't charging and my computer stopped accepting the AC Power so it went dead. I bought a New battery replacement and installed it, charged it the whole night and by the next day around noon I decided to give it a try but to my surprice It did not turn on, but was accepting the AC power as I saw blinking light. for that reason I thought it was working.

I looked up info and talked with hp support and did like a hard reset I think and was able to turned it back on  updated my BIOS to a new version and now shows that is plugged in but still not charging. I forgot to mention I also did the unistall battery driver.

But what has me puzzle is that it tells me it doesn't see a battery. which makes me think that maybe the battery is bad.....maybe? I wont be able to take it out until sometime next week.

so I guess there is no solution unless I buy a new computer or send it in to get fix which is the price if a brand new computer and almost the price of this model new!.

If you have any ideas that i can try, I would surely appreciate it!

Thanks!

Hi,

Thank you for posting back. I appreciate your details.

With regards to the battery issue - it's hard to say exactly (and remotely). Please, prepare yourself, take your time and dig into these articles (perform the tests/checks):

>> HP - battery not detected article >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01702473

>> HP - battery does not power PC >> https://support.hp.com/ph-en/document/c00259897

If all the steps were performed but this didn't help, please reach to HP to service the computer.
