Reinstalled the OS, destructive, with self made recovery disks. The recovery partition did not install. Any comments as to the reason would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
No, your self make recovery disces won't re-create Recovery partition. If you wish to recreate Recovery partition, you need a set from HP to perform factory restore.
Factory restore from self made disces will only effect partition C:

Thanks ,Banhien, that makes sense. I suppose if someone wanted they could make recovery disks from the Recovery Partition when the computer comes out of the box, right? Would this be better than recovery disks of the 'c' partition?
