how do I get space back on my recovery drive

Don't understand your issue.

 

The Recovery Drive is created by HP when the PC is built and only contains the files needed to do a factory reset of the PC. 

 

You should NOT be using that drive for anything and if you do, you risk corrupting it.

 

So, lack of free space on that drive is not an issue.
