Hi @YOUCEF150

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Restoring the BIOS using a USB flash drive is a reliable way to recover your HP laptop if it won’t boot properly or has a corrupted BIOS. Here’s a clear, step-by-step guide to help you do it safely.

What you’ll need

  • A working Windows PC with internet access
  • A USB flash drive (formatted to FAT32, 1–32GB recommended)
  • Your HP laptop’s exact model number

Step-by-step: Restore BIOS using USB flash drive

Step 1: Identify your laptop model

  • On your HP laptop, look for the model name on the bottom cover or inside the battery compartment.
  • Alternatively, use HP Support Assistant on another HP device.

Step 2: Download the BIOS recovery file

  • Go to HP Software & Driver Downloads.
  • Enter your laptop model and select your operating system.
  • Under BIOS, download the latest version or the one labeled HP BIOS Recovery or Firmware Update Utility.

Step 3: Prepare the USB flash drive

  • Insert the USB drive into your working PC.
  • Format it to FAT32:
    • Right-click the drive in File Explorer > Format > choose FAT32 > Start.

Step 4: Run the BIOS update utility

  • Double-click the downloaded BIOS .exe file.
  • Accept the license agreement.
  • When prompted, choose Create Recovery USB Flash Drive.
  • Select your USB drive and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Once complete, safely eject the USB.

Step 5: Insert USB into the HP laptop

  • Make sure the laptop is powered off.
  • Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.

Step 6: Launch BIOS recovery

  • Press and hold Windows + B keys.
  • While holding them, press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
  • Release the Power button but keep holding Windows + B for another 10 seconds.
  • The BIOS recovery screen should appear.
  • Follow the prompts to restore or update the BIOS.

Step 7: Finalize and restart

  • Once the BIOS is restored, the laptop will restart automatically.
  • Remove the USB drive.
  • Confirm that the system boots normally.

Let me know your exact HP model if you’d like direct links to the BIOS file or help identifying the correct version.
