Hi @whfrc,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

When you encounter the "Directory name is invalid" error on your HP Laptop PC 15-dw3000 with Windows 11, it may be due to issues with file paths, corrupted files, or problems with OneDrive synchronization. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

Check OneDrive Status

Ensure that OneDrive is operating correctly and that synchronization is not paused.

Restart OneDrive:

  • In the notification area of the taskbar, click the OneDrive icon .
  • Click More Restoring personal files from a backup on your Windows 10 computer., then select Resume syncing if it is paused.

Check Directory Path:

  • Ensure that the folder path managed by OneDrive is not changed or corrupted.

Verify Folder Accessibility

Perform checks to ensure the folders are accessible.

Restart the Computer:

  • Go to Start, select Power, then click Restart.

Manually Check the Folder:

  • Navigate to the D-drive using File Explorer and manually try to access the folder student.amity.edu.

Reset File Attributes

Use Command Prompt to reset any potentially corrupted attributes of the directory.

Open Command Prompt:

  • In Windows, search for Command Prompt.
  • Right-click Command Prompt, select Run as administrator, and click Yes.

Run Check Disk Command:

  • Type chkdsk 😧 /f and press Enter. This checks and fixes file system errors on the D-drive.

Repair System Files

Use Microsoft's System File Checker to fix corrupted system files.

Run System File Checker:

  • In the Command Prompt window, type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

Use Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM):

  • Type dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth in Command Prompt and press Enter.
  • Ensure your computer is connected to a network with an active internet connection.

Disable OneDrive Sync Temporarily

Turn off OneDrive automatic sync to check if it resolves the issue.

  1. Pause OneDrive Sync:
    • Right-click the OneDrive icon in the notification area, select More, then Pause Syncing for an appropriate duration.

I hope this helps.
