I'm confused about what you expected to happen.

 

Disk Sanitization is the term used when a disk is wiped entirely clean of all file systems or data, making it essentially, entirely blank.

 

This is especially useful with SSDs as their performance degrades over time and simple Erase operations to nothing to address that; while a Sanitize, which is done in HARDWARE, wipes the entire SSD, returning it to its original condition and performance.  I've done this regularly with my SSDs and the results can be amazing.
