Hi @nehania,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

  1. Check for Updates: Ensure your operating system, drivers, and firmware are up-to-date.
    • Open HP Support Assistant to check for any available updates. This tool comes pre-installed on HP laptops.
    • You can open it from the Start menu by searching for “HP Support Assistant”.
    • Follow the prompts to download and install updates.

Using HP Support Assistant

Run HP Performance Tune-Up Check: Utilize the HP Support Assistant to perform a performance tune-up.

  • Open HP Support Assistant and select My Device.
  • Navigate to Troubleshoot and run the performance tune-up check.

Scan for Malware: Ensure your laptop is free from malware which can significantly slow down performance.

  • Use Windows Security or any trusted third-party antivirus software to run a full system scan.

Steps to Run Windows Security

  • Click on the Start menu.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Update & Security.
  • Click on Windows Security and select Virus & Threat Protection.
  • Run a full scan.

Optimize Startup Programs: Disable unnecessary startup programs to improve boot time.

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Navigate to the Startup tab.
  • Disable programs that you do not need upon startup.

Perform Disk Cleanup: Free up space on your hard drive which can improve system performance.

  • Type Disk Cleanup in the Start menu and open the application.
  • Select the drive to clean up (usually C:) and follow the prompts.

Adjust Power Settings for Performance: Ensure your laptop is set to high performance mode.

  • Go to Control Panel.
  • Select Power Options.
  • Choose High Performance.

Upgrade Hardware (optional): If the above steps do not improve performance, consider upgrading the hardware.

  • RAM: More RAM can improve system performance.
  • SSD: Upgrading to a solid-state drive (SSD) can significantly improve boot and load times.

I hope this helps.
