Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a question. The hard disk in my laptop got corrupted. I would like to make a system recovery using the USB that I got when I bought my laptop. HOwever I can't fo it because the recovery files are gone. I looked up on Internet and saw that apparently you can buy a system recovery kit that costs around £30.00. I found the one for my laptop, but before buying it I would like to know if that will solve my problem. Will that kit give me the possibility of restoring the PC as what it was when I bought it? And if it is possibe I would like to know How.

Thank you for your support.

Either option will install Windows and the original drivers/software. Only difference I am aware of is System recovery only formats C partition and reinstalls Windows, drivers and software.

Since your D:\recovery partition seems corrupted I would choose Factory reset which will repair the D recovery partition plus install Windows and software/drivers on C partition.  After the Factory reset your F11 key to boot into recovery without the usb should work if you need it in the future.

Recovery USB does return the laptop to factory shipped condition. You have to boot from the Recovery USB. Insert it into port- use usb 2.0 port on right side. Power on the laptop and immediately start tapping the Esc key. This will open a menu where F9 Boot Options is a choice. Tap F9 and use arrow keys to move to usb to highlight/select it. Then tap Enter key and follow along.

Thank you for the answer, however system recovery option is greyed out and I can't select it. What should I do? Keep in mind that the recovery partition is currepted and it is not possible to make a recovery from there.

I understand the hard drive is corrupted and System Recovery isn't possible. The directions I gave above was in answer to your question of how the Recovery kit from HP works to restore laptop to factory.

If I then select on factory reset instead of system recovery, will that automatically give me the possibility to have the software already installed with the preinstalled settings? Because I don' t really understand the difference.

The Recovery kit from HP does an automatic format of entire hard drive and sets it up just like it came from the factory.

Actually, if the F11 System Recovery was working it would do almost the same thing. It just doesn't format the D:\recovery partition because that is where it is running from. It formats C partition and reinstalls Windows and all original software and drivers.

The recovery partition unfortunately got erased. I only have a 32 GB USB that I got when I bought the laptop and 16 GB are used. Could you kindly explain me in a easy and detailed way what's the best thing to do? Thank you for your patience and support.

1-Have you tried booting from the usb you have using the instructions above?

Insert it into port- use usb 2.0 port on right side. Power on the laptop and immediately start tapping the Esc key. This will open a menu where F9 Boot Options is a choice. Tap F9 and use arrow keys to move to usb to highlight/select it. Then tap Enter key and follow along.

2- If your usb doesn't boot and do a factory recovery  best thing for you would be to order the Recovery kit from HP. then follow the instructions I gave above for booting from it. It should also come with instructions.

My USB does boot and I get to the menu. That works and so I think I don' t need this recovery kit. However can you confirm me that if I select the option "factory reset", it will automatically install the drivers and the software(shipping conditions ). Because I am confused with the difference between "system recovery" and "factor reset".
I really don't know how to thank you. Because at the moment I am very confused.
