What blue light are you referring to?
Try a hard reset:
Remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
press and hold the power button for more than fifteen seconds.
plug in the DC power adapter (leave the battery out for now)
press the power button
Best regards,
erico

Thank you Erico, Milllions of Kudos to you ...
My computer did the same thing 'day.
Searched directly in the compaq.com forums and right the first time, got the perfect answer ..
Now it is working like a gem (atleast for now).
Thanks a bunch ...

I had the HP Pavillon for only 1.5years before it seemingly crashed and led me to the blue screen of death. I contacted HP customer support and they gave me some suggestions but none of them worked. I couldn't send the computer into HP to be fixed because I was just a few months past the warranty.
I eventually went online and found a solution to my problem (seemed to be problem with windows automatic updates) outside of HP. I was happy because after a long period of not being able to use my computer at all and having to rely on using my work computer, I was now able to use it again.
Then recently, after I recieved a new battery from HP (recommended and sent to me by HP, since apparently there was a manufacturer's defect and the old battery had a potential to overheat the computer and start fires) the computer stopped working altogether shortly after. When I plug in the power the blue light (on the side of the computer where the cord enters) no longer lights up. Even after a hard reboot I have not been able to get it working again.
I suspect that either the new battery fried my computer somehow, or that HP simply makes bad computers that crash and burn for no particular reason whatsoever after minimal use.
I am not a wealthy person and I cannot simply afford to go by new HP products after the old ones unexpectedly die out. I paid good money for this computer, and HP has not delivered on its end of in return giving me a good product or good customer service. I would appreciate if HP can provide some explanation as to what might have happened to my computer and offer some suggestions on how I can get it fixed. I cannot afford to buy another laptop. From my understanding of threads on the web this has been a reoccurring problem with the HP pavillions.
I am simply looking to feel like I recieved my money's worth after buying an expensive computer which in the end I barely used. I think when most people buy a computer they expect to get at least 5 years worth of computing out of it at a minimum, and then hopefully be able to sell it or give away after that - I didn't even get close. I can't even fathom all the e-waste that is produced simply from computers/issues like this, and would prefer to prevent my computer from going to a toxic landfill at all costs.
Thanks in advance for your advice and assistance.
