HI @lenamagnus,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It seems you might be encountering an issue with the numeric keypad on your HP Laptop Model 15s-eq2039, where the keys only work in a specific mode upon logging in. Since it's not related to the num lock, there are a few things you can check or adjust:

Numeric Keypad Activation: Ensure that the Num Lock is definitely enabled, as sometimes it might appear off while being on. Press the Num Lock key to toggle it.

Keyboard Settings: Check the keyboard settings in Windows to ensure that they're set up correctly:

  • Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard.
  • Look for any options related to the numeric keypad, such as turning off Use numeric keypad to move the mouse around the screen.

Driver Update: Ensure that your keyboard drivers are up to date. You can check for driver updates via the Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting it from the list.
  • Expand the Keyboards section, right-click on your keyboard device, and select Update driver.

Accessibility Features: Sometimes, accessibility features can alter how the numeric keypad works. Check if any such features are enabled:

  • Go to Control Panel > Ease of Access Centre.
  • Click on Make the keyboard easier to use and check if sticky keys or other features are enabled that might affect the keypad functionality.

BIOS/UEFI Settings: If none of the above work, checking your laptop's BIOS settings might be helpful to ensure that nothing is affecting the keyboard's operation at the firmware level.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
