SIM card is item #8

The SIM card authorizes you to use your subscribed Network Service Carrier.

The SIM card is useless without the WWAN module.

What?

Most systems do not come with the expensive, necessary, and required WWAN Broadband Module.

Use your Device Manager to check for the WWAN module.

Scroll down in this message to Device Manager - WWAN module

If the Device Manager does not list the WWAN module, your computer does not the hardware module installed.

Next,

If your computer does has the WWAN antenna wires (as described on Page 10)

and

If the computer does not have the WWAN module (Page 48-49)

then

The module can be purchased and installed and might provide service with your carrier.

The WLAN module and WWAN module are not interchangeable.

The WWAN module is available on select models only.

Device Manager - WWAN module

Settings > Network & internet

If your computer does have the WWAN module,

then

Use the Device Manager to find / display information about an installed WWAN module.

Example – Control Panel access to Device Manager

Control Panel > icon view > Device Manager

Tab View 

Select View by action types

Check Show hidden devices

Select Drivers by type

Expand section Network Adapters

Find LT / LTE in list – Note that your module, if listed, might have a different name.

Right-Click on the module > Properties

Use Settings > Network & internet to display information about an installed SIM card.
