Hi @sassygrl ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your new HP laptop. Let's try to troubleshoot the problem step by step:
Check Internet Connection:
- Ensure that your laptop is connected to the internet. You can check this by opening a web browser and trying to load a simple website, like www.google.com.
Browser Troubleshooting:
- If you're having issues with both Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome, the problem might be related to the internet connection or a system-wide issue. Try the following:
- Close all open browser windows.
- Reopen the browser and try accessing a website again.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Make sure your Windows operating system is up-to-date. To check for updates:
- Click on the Start button.
- Go to Settings (gear icon).
- Click on "Update & Security."
- Click on "Windows Update" and check for updates.
Clear Browser Cache:
- If the issue persists, try clearing the cache in your browsers. Here's how to do it for Edge and Chrome:
- For Microsoft Edge: Open Edge, click on the three dots in the top-right corner, go to "History," and click on "Clear browsing data."
- For Google Chrome: Open Chrome, click on the three dots in the top-right corner, go to "History," and click on "Clear browsing data."
Run a System Scan:
- Run a full system scan using your antivirus software to make sure there are no malware or security issues affecting your system.
Check Default Browser Setting:
- Confirm that your default web browser is set correctly. To check this:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps. Make sure your preferred browser is set as the default.
Reset Browser Settings:
- If the issue persists, you may want to reset your browser settings. This will clear any customizations but may help resolve the problem.
Check File Paths:
- If you're encountering a "wrong path" error, make sure that you are entering the correct URLs in the address bar. Check for typos and ensure you're using a valid web address.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
