Hi all,

I have a serious issue with my HP laptop recently bought.  For sny short movements in any directions, the mousepad jumps back quickly and it really bothers me while working with different tabs or working in some designing programs. Please help me how can I solve the issue?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Attempt using an alternate/external mouse.

(If that works when the touchpad is disabled on Synaptic software, it would mean that it's a touchpad failure,

However, if the external mouse doesn't work either, it could be a software/driver issue).

Uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your mouse:

Go to the Device Manager and select your mouse. Uninstall it and then restart your computer. During restart, your mouse driver will automatically be reinstalled.

· 1.   Click on Start and type ‘Device Manager’.

· 2.   Click Device Manager.

· 3.   Click + sign next to Mouse.

· 4.   Right-click on mouse entry and choose "uninstall".

· 5.   Restart your computer.

Also, let's run the touchpad test:

Install the latest version of the HP Hardware diagnostics (UEFI) on your device using this link: Click here for details

http://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/pc-diags.html

Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click Component Tests.

Click Touchpad Test.

Click Run once, or Loop until error.

While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.

If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi Betty,

Thank you for your response. I tried with an external mouse but I don't have the problem there. The problem is just with the touchpad. I also ran the diagnostic tests you asked but there is no error in touchpad tests. I really don't know what should I do. I had this problem from the day I bought it.
