Hi @sohite,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your touchpad isn't working properly due to an I2C HID device error, here are steps to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Update Touchpad Drivers
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices and locate your touchpad.
- Right-click on it and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
2. Check for I2C HID Device
- In Device Manager, look for I2C HID Device under Human Interface Devices.
- Right-click it and select Update driver or Uninstall device (it will reinstall on reboot).
3. Reinstall Touchpad Drivers
- You can also reinstall the touchpad drivers:
- Right-click on your touchpad in Device Manager and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop, and it should reinstall the driver automatically.
4. Run the Hardware Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Hardware and Devices and run the troubleshooter.
5. Check for Windows Updates
- Make sure your system is up to date:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
6. Check Touchpad Settings
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Ensure the touchpad is enabled and check the settings for sensitivity and gestures.
7. Reset the BIOS
- If the issue persists, you might consider resetting your BIOS to default settings:
- Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (usually by pressing F10 or Esc during startup).
- Find the option to reset to default settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
