Hi @Sunny_victus,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
That must be incredibly frustrating, especially when you're trying to solve the charging issue and even the suggested update doesn't seem to cooperate. Let's figure this out together.
- When did the charging issue start—was it after a recent update or a specific event (e.g., power outage)?
- Are you using the original HP adapter and charger that came with the laptop?
- Have you noticed any other unusual behavior with the laptop, like sudden shutdowns or inconsistent performance?
Let's try these steps.
Verify BIOS Compatibility
- Double-check the BIOS version and ROM family number (SSID) listed in your laptop's system information.
- Open System Information by typing msinfo32 in the Windows search bar. Look for the "System SKU" or "BaseBoard Product" to confirm if it matches the supported SSIDs (88EB, 88EC, BCDE, BCEE, 8934).
Reset the Power Configuration
- Turn off the laptop, unplug the charger, and disconnect all external devices.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to reset the hardware components.
- Reconnect the charger and try powering on the laptop.
Run HP Diagnostics for the Battery
- Restart your laptop and press F2 during startup to access HP Diagnostics.
- Run the "Battery Test" to check if the battery is functioning properly.
Update the BIOS Manually
- Download the BIOS update for your laptop's specific SKU from the HP support website.
- Create a bootable USB drive with the BIOS update using the HP BIOS Update Utility, and install it in BIOS mode (accessed by pressing F10 during startup).
Inspect Charger and Port
- Inspect the charger and charging port for physical damage or debris.
- Test with another compatible HP charger if available to rule out issues with the adapter.
You may also, refer to this Testing and calibrating the battery
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
