Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.  I just purchased an older used laptop and I think it originally had windows 7 and the seller put in windows 10.   This thing is really slow and I wonder if I put Win 8.1 in it would that help.  I have the recovery thumb drive from my current pavillion which I never used.   I realize it's older but I think 10 slows it down.

Put it to Windows 8.1 you may make the situation is nothing better. Do you know how old is it ? Perform a fresh install Windows 10 may help.

I don't thing your recovery thumb drive would work. Is it from same series of the G70 ?

Regards.

I also have an OLD laptop and it runs both Win7 and Win10, and it is not only NOT slower in Win10, it is actually a bit faster.

So, Win10 is likely NOT the issue.  Thus, while replacing that with Win8x is an approach, do not be surprised if it does not increase performance -- as I suspect, with an older laptop, that there are underlying hardware issues that are degrading its performance.

Hi.  I'm not sure how old this is.  It was originally running Vista so.

The only reason I bought this was for the larger screen so I can watch live tv on it.  Nothing else.  It was cheap enough so not really much of a loss if I can't use it for what I want.

I was able to load win 8.1 pro and I'll use it today and see if the playback is better.  It was quite "choppy".  Would play great and the "buffer" a little.
