Hi:

My recommendation would be to clean install Windows on the new SSD you installed, rather than cloning it.

Well, the main reason I wanted to clone was because I have software and files that I need.  I  know I could just back up the working files, but it's the apps that I need intact.  I don't understand why the similar Compaq Presario did okay, but the Pavilion didn’t.   Almost identical hardware.  I used a cloning device, and not a pc.  I couldn't that bit locker was in use.  Could it be some other inscription used?

If you just need the drivers and software you can download them from this reputable 3rd party driver site at the link below:

HP Pavilion dv6-3160us drivers

If you need to make W7 installation media and can still read the W7 product key on your notebook's case, you can download the W7 Home Premium ISO file from the link below.

There's a blue 64 bit download button all the way at the bottom of the page.

Hi.  I have the disk for Windows 7 Pro, from when I updated it.  It should work, shouldn't it?  Or are the In the link more recent?  I don't want to put Home over Pro.

HP Recommended

Yes, if you have W7 Pro and a product key, by all means you can use it.
