Hi @14Caddys,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY 17 laptop is stuck on the HP logo during an update installation, there are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue.
- Force restart: Press and hold the power button until the laptop shuts down. Then, press the power button again to turn it back on. This may help break the cycle and allow the laptop to boot properly.
- Remove external devices: Disconnect any external devices, such as USB drives or printers, from your laptop. Sometimes, these devices can interfere with the boot process.
- Perform a hard reset: Shut down your laptop, unplug the power adapter, and remove the battery if it's removable. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Then, reinsert the battery (if applicable) and plug in the power adapter. Try turning on the laptop again.
- Boot into Safe Mode: If the previous steps didn't work, try booting your laptop into Safe Mode. Press the power button to turn on your laptop, and immediately press the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears. Select "Safe Mode" and see if the laptop boots successfully. Once in Safe Mode, you can try troubleshooting or rolling back the update.
- System Restore: If you're unable to boot into Safe Mode, you can try performing a system restore to revert your laptop back to a previous state. To do this, turn on your laptop and repeatedly press the F11 key until the HP Recovery Manager opens. From there, follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system to an earlier point.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
