Hi, I would like to submit a request for help.

Last week, after I downloaded an update, all of my USB ports stopped working. I've tried a Recovery to before that date, and I have tried uninstalling the USB driver (and, curiously, two unidentifiable ones).

Strangely, power flows to the USB ports only while in BIOS mode. Once I leave, the mouse's LED goes out.

I really don't want to try a complete system restore yet. Any ideas?

Got the chance to run through the tests today. Sorry, still doesn't work.

I do have a "Universal Serial Bus Controller" and "Unknown device" with exclamation marks in the "Other devices" part of the device manager. Not sure what those do.

Since i am not a microsoft windows user, i  am guessing, the yellow exclamatons are errors that are looking for drivers.

From the operating system i run. I use the command line to tell me if any of my hardware is not functon properly.

Hi @Appletank,

Here is the link of all the drivers of your laptop:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-15-j100-Quad-Edition-Notebook-PC-series/6521...

Check if you have any of the drivers missing in your Device Manager.

I ran the program, and it gave me this:

"HP has scanned your product but currently has no suggestions for driver updates. "

Hi @Appletank,

Thank you for the reply!

Please go to your device manager and click on the Action button on the top of the window, then select scan for hardware change. Let me know if you still have the unknown devices listed in the Device Manager.

Is you OS Windows 8 or 8.1?

You can try running the HP Support Assistant to check the HP updates:

Hi @Appletank,

Please update your Chipset driver: sp63408.exe Version 9.4.0.1026 Rev. Restart your laptop.

Please update your BIOS: sp73289.exe Version F.66 Rev.A, then restart your laptop.

Let me know how it goes.

The bios is already updated. However, when I try to install the chipset driver, it says "Eroor Copying File" and then it closes.
