Hi, I would like to submit a request for help.
Last week, after I downloaded an update, all of my USB ports stopped working. I've tried a Recovery to before that date, and I have tried uninstalling the USB driver (and, curiously, two unidentifiable ones).
Strangely, power flows to the USB ports only while in BIOS mode. Once I leave, the mouse's LED goes out.
I really don't want to try a complete system restore yet. Any ideas?

Got the chance to run through the tests today. Sorry, still doesn't work.
I do have a "Universal Serial Bus Controller" and "Unknown device" with exclamation marks in the "Other devices" part of the device manager. Not sure what those do.

Since i am not a microsoft windows user, i am guessing, the yellow exclamatons are errors that are looking for drivers.
From the operating system i run. I use the command line to tell me if any of my hardware is not functon properly.

Hi @Appletank,
Thank you for the reply!
Please go to your device manager and click on the Action button on the top of the window, then select scan for hardware change. Let me know if you still have the unknown devices listed in the Device Manager.
Is you OS Windows 8 or 8.1?
You can try running the HP Support Assistant to check the HP updates:
