Product: HP PAVILION G6 NOTEBOOK PC
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Product #:  C2L84UA#ABA

Used hp recovery because files were not visible. During recovery saw were files still there but files were  not visible when recovery finished. Is there a way to get files back or they gone.  I was in windows 10, recovery disc put be back to windows 8.  it appeared to put file on c: <11/23/2019 date> so thought it was saving in folder on c drive. Did a search on date and unfortunately nothing was found.

Sounds like you did a full Factory recovery/settings and that means now your machine is back to its original state, at the time when opening the box.
